Terms of Use

1. Who these terms are with

This website is operated by Spatialis Limited (trading as Spatialis), a company registered in Ireland, company number 823817, registered office 79 Lindsay Road, Glasnevin, Dublin 9, D09 E7V7, Ireland. "We", "us" and "our" mean that company. By using the site you accept these terms.

2. Published analysis is not professional advice

We publish methodology notes, data analysis and commentary — including the Insights series — in the open. That material is general information about spatial, demographic and economic trends. It is not planning, economic, investment, valuation or legal advice, and it is not tailored to any particular site, scheme or organisation.

Do not rely on published material as the basis for a planning application, an appeal, an acquisition, a disposal or an investment decision. Commissioned work carries a defined scope, agreed assumptions and our professional responsibility behind it. Published material carries none of those things. If a piece of our published analysis looks relevant to a decision you are making, commission the work or at least talk to us.

3. Data, sources and accuracy

Our published analysis is built on public data — including Central Statistics Office data, Ordnance Survey Ireland and Tailte Éireann datasets, local authority records and other public sources. We take care with it, and we publish our methodology so it can be checked. But:

Where we reproduce third-party data, that data remains subject to its own licence and attribution requirements, which we set out alongside each publication.

4. Intellectual property

The content of this site — text, analysis, methodology, charts, maps, code, design and the Spatialis name and logo — is owned by us or licensed to us, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.

You may read, download and print material for your own information, research or private study, and you may quote from it in the ordinary course of comment, criticism or reporting. In each case you must attribute it to Spatialis and link to the source page, and must not alter it in a way that misrepresents its meaning.

You may not republish substantial parts of our analysis, use it commercially, incorporate it into a product or dataset you sell, or use it to train a machine learning model, without our written permission. Permission is often given — ask.

5. Availability

We provide the site free of charge and on an "as is" basis. We do not guarantee it will be available uninterrupted, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it without notice.

6. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to that, we exclude all warranties, conditions and terms implied by statute or common law to the fullest extent permitted, and we are not liable for any loss of profit, loss of business, loss of anticipated savings, loss of opportunity, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, this website or material published on it.

This clause does not affect our responsibilities under a signed engagement for commissioned work. Those are governed by the terms of that engagement, not by this page.

7. Links to other sites

Where we link to third-party sites, data portals or publications, we do so for reference. We do not control them and we are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices.

8. Linking to us

You are welcome to link to any page on this site, provided you do so fairly and do not suggest an endorsement, association or approval that does not exist.

9. Contact form

When you use the contact form you agree to provide accurate information and not to use it to send unsolicited marketing, bulk messages or anything unlawful. Personal data you submit is handled as described in our Privacy Notice.

10. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. The version and date at the top will tell you when we last did. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

11. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you live.
